Free Fall Detectors

Detectronic metal detection

Metal detection in the drop pipe, without a conveyor

Fitted into the drop pipe — above a bagging machine, between sifter and silo, or at intake. When metal is detected, a high-speed pneumatic valve separates the contaminated portion without interrupting the flow.

Track Int’l Trade specifies Detectronic free-fall systems for Egyptian plants making powders, granules, grain, sugar, spices and plastic granulate.

In the drop pipe

No belt to break into the line. Detector and reject sit in the vertical fall, with very little floor space around the machine.

Fractions of a second

Product is moving fast at the coil. The valve sits close to the detector so it can close past the metal before the stream has gone.

All three metals

Ferrous, non-ferrous and stainless in one pass — the fragments that actually turn up in powder lines are usually stainless.

Reject that does not clog

Hygienic valve with no critical edges. Y-type for flake material; a powder design that will not hold product.

Two builds

FF/JS compact

Short reject system for limited headroom between the sifter or hopper and the packing machine. Same detection, less vertical space.

  • Typical use: above a bagging machine
  • Ø60 to Ø320
  • FDA-approved reject lining for food contact

FF/BD bulk

Heavier-duty build for continuous streams — grain, flour, sugar, feed — where throughput is high and the material is abrasive.

  • Typical use: intake, transfer and silo feed
  • Continuous flow without stopping the line
  • Reject volume sized to the flow rate, so the container matches the product value

Specify a free-fall detector for your line

Free fall is the right answer when the product is dry and flows freely, there is a vertical drop, and a stop is expensive. If the product is wet or viscous, use a pipeline detector instead. Send Track the material, pipe diameter and available headroom.
