Inline Serialization

Station for cartoning machines

03 inline station front view

Serialize the carton as the cartoner runs

The inline station is built for a cartoning machine. Cartons are positioned, a GS1 DataMatrix is printed on the top flap, the code is inspected, and cartons that fail are rejected in the flow.

It is the station for lines that already carton automatically and need item-level identity at production speed: up to 300 cartons a minute on a 4 cm width, and up to 150 a minute on a 15 cm width. Carton length is 6 to 25 cm and height is 1.5 to 15 cm.

GS1 DataMatrix

GTIN, production date, expiry and serial number, printed on the top flap.

Inspected on the station

The camera checks the code. Cartons that fail are rejected automatically.

Up to 300 a minute

Quoted on a 4 cm carton width. Wider cartons run slower — 150 a minute at 15 cm.

Part 11 on the line

SKU profiles, work orders, QC status, quality reports and an audit trail.

Inline, or offline beside the line

On the cartoner

Print, serialization and inspection sit with the cartoning machine, so the pack leaves the line already identified.

  • DataMatrix on the top flap: GTIN, production date, expiry, serial
  • Automatic rejection of a non-conforming carton
  • Work order start, hold and stop from Track’s line software

When packing is still by hand

A manual packaging line uses the offline folded-carton station. The code, the inspection and the software layer are the same family.

  • Offline folded station for erected cartons
  • Offline flat station when the blank is coded first
  • Aggregation and Level 3 sit behind either choice

Specify an inline station for your cartoner

Send Track the cartoner model, carton size, speed, and a photo of the outfeed and the top flap. We will confirm the inline station, the print surface, and how it hands serials to Level 3.
